Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. In 1992, she was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was host and a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. She was a member of an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. She reported on a variety of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently along with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
